Siveco’s mid-size customers in China (Part 2)

Last month’s Customer Story provided glimpses into some of Siveco’s small-to-mid size customers that benefit from our prepackaged approach to CMMS (Coswin Light). This month, we publish the second part with 5 more customer short stories.

Trolli Guangzhou Confectionery

Trolli Confectionery is one of the largest candy producers in the world, with its plant located in Guangzhou.

The plant’s General Manager initiated the CMMS project to replace the previous paper records, with a primary focus on spare parts stock (avoiding out-of-date and inaccurate stock information) and KPIs to measure maintenance performance.

The project is under Enhanced Support Phase since July 2013.

Yangzhou Dayang Shipbuilding

Yangzhou Dayang Shipbuilding is the largest shipyard in Sinopacific Group, producing bulk carriers, container vessels, offshore supply vessels and LPG carriers.

As the shipbuilding industry faced great challenges after the 2008 financial crisis, with fewer orders and increasing costs, Dayang Shipyard launched a maintenance cost reduction program. The CMMS proved fundamental, as a tool to measure performance and identify savings. Dayang Shipyard is an example of large client, with relatively simple needs, suitable for a packaged CMMS approach.

The shipyard has been using the system since March 2011. A complete Case Study has been published under the title “Embracing maintenance KPIs leads to improved performance in the challenging shipbuilding industry”.

Essilor Laos

Starting production in the third quarter of 2013, the new Essilor plant in Laos will manufacture polycarbonate eyeglass lenses, a type of optical lenses highly resistant to impact and particularly adapted for children.

Essilor selected Siveco China to implement the Coswin Light CMMS in a highly cost-efficient way, to help built the plant’s maintenance organization in time before production start.

The project is currently ongoing, with Siveco team in Laos during November 2013.

Karlsson Spools Precision Machining (Kunshan)

Karlsson Spools is a Swedish manufacturer of spools for hydraulic valves for applications in the automotive and hydraulic machinery industries, with a factory in Kunshan, Jiangsu.

Karlsson Spools selected Siveco to run a maintenance improvement project based on the implementation of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for a small maintenance department of only 3 employees.

The project went “live” in April 2013.

Boustead DCNS Naval Corporation (Malaysia)

BDNC, a joint-venture between naval shipbuilding giant DCNS and Malaysia’s Boustead Group, operates the repair yard for Malaysia Navy’s Scorpene submarines.

BDNC purchased Coswin Light in 2010 to manage all the yard’s infrastructure and equipment. The system was later phased out as facilities maintenance was not part of BDNC’s scope of responsibility anymore. This is the perfect example of Coswin Light as a transition system.

DCNS continues to use Coswin to support all their worldwide maintenance activities.
