The Siveco & MobiGIS partnership

Siveco and MobiGIS initially announced their partnership and unveiled the first version of their Geographical Maintenance Portal during the 2009 High Service Level Transportation forum, held at Tongji University in Shanghai on November 10 & 11 2009.

At this event, leaders of both companies made the case for the partnership. Bruno Lhopiteau, General Manager of Siveco China, declared:

“Although GIS & CMMS integration is nothing new for us – we have over 10 years history working on inter-operability projects sponsored by the European Union – the partnership with MobiGIS represents an important milestone for a number of reasons. First of all, we have decided to first release our new product in China, before any other market, demonstrating that the Chinese urban infrastructures have become our first priority. Second, our integration platform is built entirely on standard, open technology, guaranteeing its long term viability for customers, while ensuring that Chinese system integrators can easily work with us. Finally, all R&D is being done in Shanghai, proving again our strong commitment to China.”

Frédéric Schettini, General Manager of MobiGIS, added:

“Infrastructure maintenance managers can further optimise their maintenance process by combining GIS with CMMS. Taking into account geographic data help to save time, to save money, to reduce CO2 emission, to improve quality of maintenance process, to develop much more reliable crisis management procedures, to map infrastructures’ condition, maintenance planning, costs and budgets, and finally to help to make the right decision. MobiGIS, who is working in France for the French government and worldwide renowned multinational companies to develop advanced GIS applications and solutions, has decided to set up in China to join Siveco, number one in maintenance management system supplier in Europe.”

The joint team has been working very closely together since MobiGIS opened its Shanghai office at the end of 2009.

The Geographical Maintenance Portal

The Geographical Maintenance Portal is specifically designed to assist operators of distributed or network-based assets in their daily work, by providing a wealth of easy-to-use functionalities not available with traditional systems. The Portal allows a seamless navigation between the maintenance system (MMS) and the geographical information system (GIS). Built on standard open-source technology, it is entirely web-based and available on both PCs and mobile devices.

Examples of scenarios include the possibility, directly from Siveco’s maintenance system COSWIN, to localize a work order on a map, then to query for all work orders within the same area (for example within 5 minutes distance) for dispatching to the nearest available technician, without leaving the MMS, with only a few clicks of the mouse. The system also allows route optimization based on distance and traffic constraints. From the management point of view, colored maps are used to display maintenance cost, breakdown frequency, network reliability and other indicators, for quick decision-support.
